BUENOS AIRES - SIDE TRIPS

HALF DAY CITY TOUR

Our half day morning tour will allow us to discover the city of Buenos Aires. We will visit its Civic Centre: the impressive National Congress and May Square (Plaza de May) surrounded by Government House (Casa Rosada), the Metropolitan Cathedral and City Hall from colonial days (Cabildo). We will visit the Colon Theatre (Teatro Colón), one of the world’s best know opera houses and the cultural pride of the “Porteños” (Buenos Aires natives). Next, we will tour the traditional barrio of San Telmo where the magical atmosphere of the district will take you back in time. (Sunday visits include the Flea Market) We will then stop at La Boca, home of the first Italian immigrants and you will observe its picturesque and colourful architecture We will then continue to the residential neighborhood of Palermo and see Palermo Parks. Finally, we will go to Recoleta, the city’s most exclusive district, with its famous cemetery where Evita is buried, elegant boutiques, gourmet restaurants and side walk cafés under ficus trees (gomeros).

TIGRE AND DELTA

In 1891 Ferrocarriles de Buenos Aires inaugurated a local train that would travel from Retiro (downtown) to Delta Station, north of the city. Today, a 30 minute trip. In the 60's the train was deactivated to become active again in 1990. Taking the short journey is fabulous, traveling through all different neighborhoods of the city and watching the coastal area, a fairly uncommon scene...even for those who live there. At the end of the trip there is Tigre, a small neighborhood that developed as a result of the activity in the Delta. For a long time the island of Tigre was the sum- mer escapade for the high classes in the city. Some facts about the Delta, the widest in the world, are impressive. Ninety million tons of sedimentation carried by the Parana river produce an accumulation of land of approximately 50 cm (20 inches) every year, forming the different islands that constitute the Delta region, one of which is Tigre. It is mandatory spending a day at the Parana de las Palmas, at some of their simple beaches or restaurants and enjoy such a treasure so close to a major city. There are many tours and circuits that can be arranged with or without meals.

This Typical and unique excursion will allow foreing tourist to admire the traditional dances typical activities and enjoy the song and meals of the argentine gaucho ( cow-boy ). The party is held at a beautiful country residence in an old ranch situated on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, ( 100 / 120 Kms ) Lunch, a typical barbecue calles asado, drinks are included.

Taste Argentine cuisine specialities accompanied by excellent wines and finish the evening enjoying aTango and folklore show long to be remembered. (The tour includes round trip transfers and can also be taken without the dinner)
